Product Description

In the quest for the most advanced concept in floor protection, the talented designers and engineers at MacNeilAutomotive have worked tirelessly to develop the most advanced DigitalFitTM floor protection available today! The WeatherTechFloorLiner™ accurately and completely lines the interior carpet giving "absolute interior protection™"! Digital laser measurements of interior surfaces offer a consistently perfect fit! A patent pending High-Density Tri-Extruded (HDTE) material allows for a rigid core for strength while offering surface friction to the carpet, as well as tactile feel to the surface! Advanced surfacing creates channels that carry fluids and debris to a lower reservoir with further channeling to help minimize fluid movement while driving! Once fluids become trapped in the reservoir, away from shoes and clothing, they are easily removed from the WeatherTechFloorLiner™ over the door sill...no muss-no fuss! Rear FloorLiners™ incorporate m any of the same design features as the front FloorLiners™. Rear FloorLiners™ (where offered) are manufactured from a proprietary custom blended TPO (thermopolyolefin) that is not only wear resistant, but also remains flexible under temperature extremes. FloorLiners were designed for vehicles with factory carpet installed when manufactured.  They will not fit vehicles with vinyl floors unless otherwise specified.  Please take your old floor mats out before installing your new WeatherTech floor mats. Please note that the on-screen color representations are not necessarily precise representations of actual product colors due to variance in monitor calibrations.

3Marginally Better Than Any Standard Plastic Car Floor Liner
By A. Toll
As a new car owner, I had heard much about the new WeatherTech product line. After hearing the rave reviews of these mats, I decided to jump in and purchase an entire set of mats for my new vehicle-front, rear and cargo liner. Several days and $276.00 later, they arrived in huge boxes and I installed them the following day.

Here is my honest and complete assessment of the new WeatherTech "Custom Fit" Liners and their Value to the consumer: (My apologies David MacNeil):

PROS:

1. The liners are intended to fit the contours of your vehicle's floor "like a glove". The front floor liners have raised edges to help restrict water and debris from surfacing under the liner. Each liner is allegedly, laser cut and measured to align with the precise contours of your vehicle. For the most part, it does.

2. These are essentially semi-rigid thermo-plastic liners that are not designed to be warm or aesthetic but rather functional. If you have a truck or SUV, they are ideal.

3. MacNeil Automotive Group manufactures their products in the US with materials that are locally sourced (if that is important to you).

4. Materials are non-toxic, manufactured using recycled materials and comply with all federal regulations for safety.

5. Customer support appears to be acceptable at this time-As of this writing, WeatherTech has native English-speaking associates to address your questions; however, a poor-caliber VOIP line compromises both ease of communication and the "customer experience".

6. Product has a 3 year "limited" warranty. (See Comment Below)

CONS:

1. Price: In my opinion, steep with a marginal-to-questionable return-on-investment. Remember, these are simply plastic liners with shallow edges (or lips) to help contain water. As popularity of these products continues to rise and competition ensues, prices should fall. An entire set (including cargo lin er) will run you about $300. To date, there are at least 5 other companies that manufacture custom fit car floor liners, including Husky, Nifty, Newark, Highland and Lloyd. In addition to Amazon, check JC Whitney online for a very comprehensive selection.

2. Depending on your specific vehicle, your WeatherTech floor liners may not fit as "seamlessly" as you might expect: Installed as per the directions (and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to drop these into your vehicle), you may notice a 1/8"-1/2" gap between the liner's edges and the floor contour. This gap is conspicuous, especially on the side that faces the vehicle's front door's (both driver and passenger) which can and will permit liquid and debris to enter the vehicle below the liners.

3. The lips of these liners could easily accommodate another 1/4-1/2"" as an added measure to help contain liquids. They appear only marginally adequate in my assessment, particularly given the high price. The rear liner is a thin, one-piece unit that simply installs over the transmission hump. In my opinion, the quality of the rear liner is below par compared to the thickness of the front and cargo liners and without question, definitely not worth the $70 price tag!!

4. Be careful about which product you decide to purchase from WeatherTech. WeatherTech manufactures BOTH custom fit floor LINERS and all-weather floor MATS. Unfortunately, the photos of each product do not represent the actual product that you purchase and can be misleading.

5. The floor liners are not as slip resistant as you might be inclined to think, especially in wet weather. My guess is that a second generation of WeatherTech liners will no doubt incorporate such important safety upgrades in these areas.

6. These products should have a lifetime warranty, excluding of course, excessive or unreasonable abuse. Instead, the manufacturer chose to only offer a 3 year "limited warran ty", which essentially permits the manufacturer to exclude and/or deny warranty coverage at their exclusive discretion. In my opinion, these types of "warranties" are useless because they are not consumer-friendly.

BOTTOM LINE:

1. This product can be particularly useful if you own an SUV or truck because of its functional design.

2. Check prices carefully, especially with Amazon marketplace vendors. Including shipping and handling, I saved $12 purchasing just one of these liners from a marketplace seller.

3. Consider waiting for the 2nd generation of WeatherTech liners to address a few important upgrades or consider comparable-quality liners from other manufacturers cited above.
